IE7 tabs

So for months IE 7 has been driving me nuts every time I close a tab it switches focus to the next tab to the right and not back to the tab that created it. I'd searched online to no avail and finally gave up but while digging for something else I finally found the solution in not at all the right place.

First step - Internet Options; OK so that is the right place but the obvious second step of Tabs Settings is wrong. Step Two - Advanced tab and go down to the bottom of the "Browsing" section and just 3 options from the bottom is "Use Most recent order when switching tabs with Ctrl+Tab". Check this box and you'll be much happier with your tabbed browsing experience.

What's the big deal? I do a lot of online research and use a lot of web-service applications so I usually have a number of windows open each with a number of tabs. It may only take a few seconds to switch manually but a couple hundred times a day adds up. My example:
Google Search, open 5 pages each into their own tab. Reading the first page, open a cross reference in a new tab, read then close the refernce. I want to go back to where I was and finish that page with the reference fresh in my mind. IE's default behavior is to move me on to the second page I opened from google, keep moving on without ever finishing something.

Microsoft really should add mention to this in their help files, better yet move this option right next to teh "Open new tabs next to teh current Tab" option where people can find it.

Puffer Fish

I decided to get a puffer fish to eat the snails in my aquarium. I've seen them at all the local fish stores and thought about getting one plenty of times but since they don;t play nice I've always put it off. I've recently been invaded by apple snails that came in on a new plant and I don;t want to risk losing my very large blue snails so the puffer seemed like a great way to go. It took me six fish stores and 70 miles but I finally got one; just a baby but he'll grow... Not sure why I was so determined today, normally I would have given up after the two closest stores were out; certainly had nothing to do with the $3.46 I paid for gas this morning.

You can see a (bad) picture of him HERE and my excuse about the photo quality HERE.

RIP Molly

I decided to finally euthanise my male Molly last night. The tumor on his side was still growing and had become irregularly shaped, and was now affecting his swimming. His left pectoral fin only had about 1/2 the range of the right and he was using his tail much more aggressively. This will eventually solve my breeding problem but I understand each of the females will give birth up to five more times so I will still have plenty of fry to get rid of.

Blog structure

I'm rearranging my blog in hopes that maybe I'll actually post once in awhile. The previous blog that occupied this domain is now located at soubrause-thinkaboutit.blogspot.com and I have created a new blog soubrause-pictureit.blogspot.com for my photography work. We'll see how it goes...
